Project Overview : A Comprehensive Wayfinding Solution for Healthcare

In modern healthcare environments, clear, efficient, and internationally standardized wayfinding systems 

have become essential infrastructure for improving patient experience and hospital operational efficiency. 

Recently, BuoyantSignage completed a comprehensive hospital-wide wayfinding system project, 

integrating department guidance, floor navigation, and safety signage to enhance spatial communication 

and patient flow management.

 Illuminated Department Directional Signage

The core signage element is the illuminated lightbox system, featuring a long metal enclosure 

with a brown frame and light grey panel, integrated with LED lighting to ensure high visibility 

in corridors and low-light environments.

The panel features bilingual content, clearly displaying department names, directional arrows, 

and functional icons (such as CT and dental departments). The combination of icons and text reduces cognitive barriers 

and improves patient navigation efficiency.


Floor Directory Signage

The floor directory signage serves as a key informational entry point within the hospital. 

It adopts a wall-mounted flat-panel structure with a brown and white visual identity.
The top section displays the hospital name, while the main layout systematically presents floor-by-floor departments 

and functional zones, supported by directional guidance and bilingual labeling, enabling visitors 

to quickly understand the building layout.



Medical Safety & Functional Signage System

The project also includes a complete medical safety signage system, 

covering fire safety signs, evacuation guidance, warning notices, and functional area identification.
All signage follows international safety color standards (red, green, yellow, blue) and standardized iconography, 

supported by bilingual descriptions to meet both safety compliance and multilingual communication requirements.


Project Summary

Through this integrated wayfinding implementation, the hospital has transitioned from fragmented signage 

to a structured spatial navigation system, enabling patients, visitors, and medical staff to navigate 

complex healthcare environments more efficiently.
